Shipping has been very quiet at Bideford over the last couple of months, and one ship was
diverted to Plymouth and the cargo (expensively) driven down there when the Bideford crane suffered a major reversing clutch failure. This took a few weeks to dismantle, source spare parts (ex Falkland Islands) and reassemble by the skilled (and dogged) crane engineer Mick Archer from MJA Birmingham, ably assisted by Michael Pryer the TDC crane driver.
