Wednesday 3rd October on the ITV Westward news  saw the appearance of Capt Roger Hoad the Pilot and Harbour Master,  who was full of confidence about the future of the port. There was  also a brief appearance of Michael the crane driver loading a ship at the quay.

Both gentlemen now have to called ‘Sir’

On Thursday 4th October, I  and other colleagues from ‘Buzz’,  attended a presentation  at the Barnstaple Hotel about the Royal Navy and its future role  which  we found very interesting. At the question  and answer session afterwards, I asked on behalf of Buzz and the people of Bideford  if they could tell us when the Navy and Marines are involved in exercises in Bideford Bay with the dates and names of  the ships involved, so we may advise our readers .They have also promised to look into the matter of advising the shipping movements in and out of Plymouth which the BBC used to broadcast ,but suddenly dropped stating that it was of no interest to the people of North Devon . I  pointed out to Commodore Miller that if they wanted people to attend Navy Day at Plymouth  next year ,it would be advisable for the information to be reinstated.  Norman
