The Reconstruction of the Kathleen and May (Video) [November 02]

The Schooner Kathleen and May, formerly Lizzie May, was launched in 1900 at Connahs Quay, Flintshire, in Wales. She spent most of her sea faring life transporting coal to various ports around the country. Eventually, progress caught up with her and she spent many years in a maritime museum in London.

In 1998 she arrived in Bideford for a reconstruction. However, this turned out to be a bigger job than any-one imagined. This is the story of how a small group of people rose to the challenge to preserve that last remaining boat of its kind.
